The Self-Actualization Complimentary Triangle

The Self-Actualization Complimentary Triangle Developed By Rose Skyrah

As a professional coach, I have been reflecting recently on the importance of understanding the distinctions and significance of coaching, therapy, and psychiatry, as well as how effectively they can be integrated. Most professional and experienced therapists and coaches choose to collaborate together as they are already aware of the powerful impact of their services for the client's transformation. While coaching is still a relatively new industry for some people, the awareness is growing as more new coaches emerge and educate the public about the powerful impact of this field. Many individuals feel pleased and even relieved when they first learn about coaching. It offers a pathway to professional guidance and support, helping them navigate their personal and professional lives with better clarity. When clients face challenges with their mental health, it becomes part of the coach’s role to provide information about therapists and psychiatrists when appropriate. Since clients come into coaching for various reasons, some may require additional support in other areas of their lives. Educating clients about these options enables them to seek further assistance that can help them benefit more from the coaching services.

So, what is The Self-Actualization Complimentary Triangle

I developed this theory in response to a deeper exploration of the importance of these three professions working together. Most services achieve the best and most meaningful results when they are combined with similar services, creating a complementary and integrated approach. This is why the complimentary triangle can be a very powerful holistic approach to the client's transformation.

So, how does it really work?

Psychiatrists primarily manage medication, while therapists support clients’ mental and emotional well-being. All these efforts converge when a client works with a coach to effectively achieve their personal and professional goals. The coach assists the client in managing their life, establishing meaningful objectives, and rediscovering purpose. Essentially, the coach supports the client’s self-esteem and helps them feel empowered and productive, thereby contributing to their success in reaching their goals.

The Self-Actualization Complimentary Triangle

The triangle illustrates the importance and potential for meaningful progress it can facilitate for the client. The triangle does not imply a hierarchy among the professions, but it emphasizes the capacity for rapid and impactful change through their collaborative efforts for the client. The circle within the triangle represents the harmony the professions create for the client with their collaboration as a group. This graph perfectly demonstrates what a complimentary triangle can do in order to promise true success for a client who is seeking professional support to improve their lives to achieve self-actualization.
